Cardio, means heart and very simply put cardio-conditioning means strengthening the heart. Just the way we work on our muscles, we need to consciously work on our heart muscle.
So what is Cardio Conditioning…. Any activity that brings the heart rate up and you are able to maintain it is Cardio Conditioning. It is a rhythmic activity that raises your heart rate into your fat burning zone. We all love fat burning exercises.
‘Cardio’ is the first word I heard when I first started exercising. 30 years back the concept of structured workouts almost did not exist. Cardio activities also known as aerobic activities were little known by people.
Then in 1965, Dr. Kenneth Cooper gave it a structure and called it aerobics activities.
So any activities that get your heart rate up and you maintain it the for a minimum of 30 minutes are called cardio activities. To simply it further for you some examples are walking, cycling, aerobics and running. These are the basic activities which you can do every single day.
Your first step is to figure out what kind of activities do you really like. If you choose something that fits into your personality and your lifestyle, then go for it. You need to see what is accessible to you. If you like to go outdoors, running, cycling or walking are good choices.
I have seen that a lot of people enjoy walking. It’s free or inexpensive and gets you out in the open and you also have the benefits of some fresh air.
If you prefer to go to the gym, you have many more options in the form of machines like treadmills, stationer bikes, elliptical, climbers and rowing machines or even a group aerobics class.
If you don’t want to get out of your house at all, then you can get your self a home treadmill or watch your favorite You Tuber or even do spot jogging or skipping.
